Good Quality Yak Chew

How to differentiate good vs bad quality yaks?

Good quality yak chews are popular among pet parents. Much like regular food, Yak Dog Chews
are equally popular when it comes finding a replacement for dog bones or dog treats.
Yak Chews also serve as distractions for unnecessary chewing and cater to address the
hunting instinct in dogs. Yak Chews eliminate the build-up of plaque and tartar and keep
the teeth and gums healthy. Since these Yak Dog Chews are rich in calcium and
phosphorous, these Chews are even beneficial to strength the bones of your dog. The
hardness of Yak dog chews can vary, because the market is afloat with genuine along
with sub-standard chews, so make sure you choose and buy the ideal chews for your
doggo. We suggest that your judgement and purchase be based on finding quality and
authenticity.

Odour

You cannot just give your pet any ordinary chew. The best way to judge the quality of a
Yak chew is to pay attention to is colour and odour. Yak Chews are supposed to be
odourless. Yak Dog Chews have always been sourced from the Himalayas, where they
are prepared without additives, chemicals or preservatives. These are also consumed by
people, and therefore, are handmade with a lot of care. Proper Himalayan Yak Chews
shouldn’t have any smell, but if there is bacterial growth, they tend to give out an odour.

Threads

Many Yak chews that have permeated in the market do not have consistent, smooth
surfaces. Such inferior quality chews have irregular textures on the surface. Since these
inferior chews are manufactured and stored in jute sacks, the chews haven’t been
cleaned properly, and you will find small threads on the surface. Yak Chews are
complete, natural, and organic treats made with Himalayan cheese through processes
that have been used across the centuries by the Himalayan people. Handmade
Himalayan Yak chews are always properly cleaned and manufactured in a hygienic
environment.

Cracks and Splinters

Genuine Yak milk is difficult to find. Yaks are indigenous to the Himalayan region and
live and thrive in alpine conditions. Therefore, good quality Yak chews are prepared in
the Himalayas, where these consistent products are strong and will not have cracks. Yak
Chews of inferior quality will carry dark spots and splinter gradually, and can be
extremely harmful to your pets.

Uneven Shapes

Authentic Himalayan Yak Chews have consistent shapes. You will have to ascertain that
the size is even throughout and check the consistency of shape when you buy Yak
chews. Although uneven shaped Yak chews aren’t authentic Himalayan products, their
shape, size, texture, colour, and flavour should be thoroughly scrutinized before you
select the product. Genuine Himalayan Yak Chews are manufactured with great care and
time devoted to create consistent shapes. Uneven shapes mean that they haven’t been
processed well.

Texture

Checking for texture and color is imperative to determine the quality of Himalayan Yak
Chews. The market is filled with Chews that claim to be authentic or of good quality, but
one of the ways that you can actually differentiate between good and bad quality
products is by its colour. If a Yak chew has dark brown texture, you must know that it
has been over-smoked and isn’t ideal for your pup. A perfect amount of time and
process must be employed to create a good Yak chew. Processes that take shorter or
longer approach eventually ends up harming the product.

Felted Dog Beds – 100% Wool

Your furry companions deserve comfortable beds. Dogs need beds because they need a
place to relax when they need time and privacy. Much like cats, dogs are also known to
be constantly napping. Dog beds must be crafted to last longer. Dogs will try to find a
cosy place to sleep and will often end up in the bed next to you, chewing up your
furniture, shoes, or snuggling around carpets. Dog beds that fit your pet’s sleeping needs
will help him relax at nap time.

Entirely handmade by Himalayan artisans in a small town in Kirtipur, Nepal, using
100% New Zealand Wool & chemical-free dyes, we guarantee exceptional quality & low
carbon footprint from start to finish. Our dog beds are manufactured to last and to suit
dog behaviour. Your canine companion needs a comfy spot to snooze in a warm
environment. With this in mind, we have built the sturdiest bed with the best materials.
With the help of creative minds and the hands of experienced Himalayan artisans, we
craft handmade dog beds. Our products are durable enough to withstand pups that
enjoy chewing. These are also for dogs that want their domain.

Handmade, using the felting process

If you haven’t already known about felting -it’s an incredibly painstaking process,
especially when it’s done without the help of machines. It is the process of turning
animal fibre, like wool, into a piece of fabric by connecting individual fibres. Himalayan
handmade felting is advantageous because it helps retain its original texture that allows
for elasticity, durability, and shape memory. The product also becomes an exceptional
insulator against cold, heat, sound, and vibration. Handmade felts make your dog beds
resistant to wear and tear.

Takes days to make one

A dog bedsmust be made to serve a practical purpose above all.  It should be durable,
sturdy, and comfortable. Other than that, our dog beds made by meticulous Himalayan
artisans are works of art. These products go through various processes and are
handcrafted that usually takes days just to make a single product. Made with the finest
wool, this has all the features that provide an enjoyable experience to your pet and is
still absolutely cost-effective.

Individual felted balls

We work hard at crafting perfectly rounded balls before moving on to attach those to
create comfy beds that your pet can enjoy. Individual felted balls are attached to create
our dog bed masterpieces. With the help of unique crafting ideas, we turn our felted
balls into comfortable, durable beds for your pets. These colourful beds also add to the
decor and beauty of your living space.

100% New Zealand wool

We use New Zealand wool to build our products. They say that the quality of New
Zealand wool begins with healthy sheep. All New Zealand sheep eat a diet of fresh grass
and other plants. Wool is removed from sheep through shearing, which doesn’t harm

the animals. There are no chemical footprints on the wool we use. They are stain-
resistant and resist quick penetration of liquid water. They also improve air quality by
absorbing and binding many pollutants in the air.

Buying less leads to a smaller carbon footprint. That is why it’s important to buy
the best product there is, and that’s exactly what we offer.

Dog Wool Jumper – 100% Mongolian Wool

We design and manufacture dog wool jumpers that protect your pets sufficiently. If you have been looking for a stylish, comfortable, well-knit sweater to keep your pet warm and cosy, you have come to the right place. Handmade from start to finish, by traditional artisans in the small town of Kirtipur, Nepal, these classic 100% wool knit sweaters are available in a fabulous range of colours. Woollen dog sweaters will keep your pooch stylish and warm on cold days. We always use Chemical free Swiss dyes, 100% Mongolian Wool and absolutely no acrylic or synthetic materials to ensure that our sweaters are soft and non-itchy. Since we weave with a solid 10ply thickness, our apparels help keep dogs warm, comfortable, and away from the cold.

Handmade in Kirtipur, Nepal

Kirtipur is a small town located south of Kathmandu valley inhabited by artisans whose knitting skills have been passed on from one generation to another. Our Dog Sweaters are 100% wool, knitted and woven by traditional artisans and self-help groups. We employ these skilled artisans to generate employment among poor, rural communities. To create products out of wool requires meticulous work, but we employ the finest artisans, who with every stitch, have honed their skills to perfection.

Chemical-free

Conventional clothing today gets its hue from synthetic dyes, that are often made using petroleum or coal. Besides being extremely detrimental to the environment, some of these are suspected carcinogens. We utilise innovative and eco-friendly practices by using Chemical free Swiss dyes such as Sandoz and Ciba. Our natural dye process is a part of our initiative to become environmentally conscious while also manufacturing a safe product for your pets.

Mongolian Wool 100%

Mongolian wool is not a naturally heavy fabric, yet it is strong and durable. It is more resistant to tears than other fabrics and has a longer lifespan. Since it is a lightweight fabric, it is suitable for casual wear that maintains a good comfort level. The wool that we use does not contain any acrylic or synthetic material. Our products are non-itchy and are completely eco-friendly. Our wool sweaters are great for sensitive skin, and since they are completely breathable and made available in a fabulous range of colours, our products will keep your dogs attractive, warm, and comfortable on cold days.

Meticulously crafted

Consider this: it takes hours if not days, to produce one sweater. Several styles, sizes, colors and patterns that present unlimited outfit options take a remarkable effort than one could fathom. Handmade knits carry the sweet sentiment of knitting needles and a passion for crafting warm answers to all your outfit anguish. Knitting is not the work of the impatient. After hours and days spent meticulously stitching yarn into a wearable work of art, something beautiful like our sweaters are ready.

Variations

Our hand-knit wool dog sweaters, made in 8 sizes, are carefully manufactured to fit every dog. We offer eight variations to deliver you the perfect style for your pooch. Coming up with various knitting styles requires a certain level of craftsmanship and patience. Since knitting requires a considerable amount of work and time, each item feels particularly precious and luxurious. Our products complement all dog breeds.

Breathable fabric

Our wool sweaters provide breathable performance and unparalleled moisture management. Although wool absorbs a good amount of water and moisture, it dries faster. Instead of trapping moisture, wool moves it through the fabric. Therefore, when you wear wool as a base layer, moisture doesn’t get trapped next to your skin, and you remain drier. Good wool is crucial for keeping warm in cold weather, but it also keeps you cool by facilitating evaporation, which cools the surface of your skin.

Cashmere Jumpers for Dogs

Cashmere Sweaters or pullovers for Dogs are perfect options as they come in various
sizes and designs, providing cosy comfortable wear for your furry friends. To some
breeds of dogs, the cold season is tolerable, but for others, coping with frigid
temperatures can become a challenge. It gets difficult for dogs to stay active and
comfortable in the winters if their furs do not protect them from the cold. To ensure that
your pet dog does not fall sick whenever you step out of your home, cashmere sweaters
will help keep him warm and insulated.

Cashmere is made from the processing of the hair of Capra Hircus, a mountain goat, and
is a rare fabric found nowhere else except in Kashmir, Mongolia, China, and the high
altitudes of the Himalayas. Mongolian cashmere is considered the best. Due to
Mongolia’s extremely cold climate, the cashmere produced by the goats has the best
insulating properties. Cashmere is a soft, light, and hypoallergenic fibre. Cashmere
sweaters or pullovers are also great for Dogs who feel itchy wearing clothes. If other
fabrics are rough on them, cashmere has hypoallergenic properties and is very soft on
the skin.

Made by underprivileged Himalayan artisans

Our Cashmere sweaters and dog apparel, made out of 100% Mongolian cashmere wool,
are handmade in Kirtipur, a small town in Nepal. The manufacturing plant provides
economic freedom to the underprivileged skilled artisans in this rural region.
Participating in producing items for us provides countless families with an
employment option. Our goal is to improve the lives of the Himalayan artisan by
supporting the lower strata of society by generating jobs for financially challenged
individuals.

Natural Dye

We employ innovative and eco-friendly practices by using Chemical free Swiss dyes
such as Sandoz and Ciba. The use of synthetic dyes has a detrimental effect on the
environment. Our natural dye process is an initiative to become environmentally
conscious while also manufacturing a safe product for your pets. Waste water from
textile plants is classified as the most polluting of all the industrial sectors and creates
severe pollution problems. Though most conventional clothing today gets its hue from
synthetic dyes, we only use natural dye that comes from natural sources; such as plants,
animals, fruits, and minerals.

100% Mongolian Cashmere Wool

We use 100% Mongolian Cashmere to make dog apparel, the finest cashmere available
presently. Mongolian cashmere is a luxury yarn that creates a fabric that’s remarkably
soft, smooth, and durable. Mongolian cashmere wool can be woven in different designs
while retaining its natural stretch. Even after many years, the fabric will not lose its

shape. It will always soft against your skin, and due to its smooth texture, the fabric has
extraordinary adaptability to its immediate environment.

Breathable, Warm Fabric

Cashmere is the warmest and the most breathable fabric. During wintertime, cashmere
will keep you warm and insulated. In the summer, wearing it will keep you pleasantly
cool. Many people are prejudiced against wool and think that it’s itchy. Cashmere, on the
contrary, is silky, soft, and smooth as the density of the fibres is very tight, creating a
smooth and soft texture. There isn’t a time of year when your cashmere won’t be
suitable enough to wear. With fine 6ply thickness, our cashmere sweaters are strong,
comfortable, and will never go out of fashion.

Manufacturing Cashmere sweaters for dogs, from start to finish, is an intensely
laborious process, but it is worth all that work and your investment. Cashmere has
insulating properties that are higher than traditional wool. It is warmer than cotton but
bears similar breathability to cotton. It is stylish, soft, light, and smooth, which will keep
your pup warm on colder days. Our Cashmere sweaters for dogs are woven to last.
Cashmere is timeless, and its classic styles will rarely date.

How to Improve Dog’s Dental Health – 5 Tips

Dog’s Dental Health – Pets face both dental and periodontal diseases mainly because not much care is given to maintaining their dental health and hygiene. Of course, all these stem from a bad diet and a lack of understanding from pet parents. Studies show that about 80% of dogs experience some level of dental and periodontal disease by the time they reach the age of three. This is why dental care for dogs is a must. It is therefore imperative to maintain a healthcare routine so that you can help get the mouth of your pet cleaner and healthier.

Here are few ways you can improve your dog’s dental health

1. Brush Routinely

How to Improve Dog's Dental Health - 5 Tips

Just as with human teeth, understanding the symptoms of poor dental hygiene and brushing the teeth of your pet routinely is one of the best ways to promote good oral health. You can use a canine toothbrush and toothpaste, specially developed for dogs since human toothpaste can cause harm to them. If your dog is resistant to this, you can avoid brushing routinely but frequent brushing is still recommended. You can use a brush with soft bristles to avoid resistance from your pet. Place a small quantity of toothpaste on your finger and let your pet sniff or lick it. Following a positive interest in the flavor of the toothpaste, use it for brushing.

2. Diet

dog's dental health

Several food options are available to improve the dental health of your pet. Best dog chews for healthy teeth are used by many as an alternative to periodic brushing and they also help with better mechanical cleansing of the teeth. Ask your veterinarian about healthy dog chews. If you are not a raw feeder, large marrow bones can also be a good option along with Yak milk dog chews. Give your pet food that contains fatty acid supplements such as Omega-3, which can also help manage periodontal inflammation. These are available in Yak milk dog chew. Probiotics such as Yogurt are also known to allow beneficial bacteria to remove harmful bacteria responsible for causing the inflammation that leads to periodontal disease.

3. Awareness

How to Improve Dog's Dental Health - 5 Tips

Proper care and being aware of the condition of your pet’s mouth is what makes the difference between healthy dog teeth and an oral condition that could be causing discomfort. One must recognize the symptoms and check for Halitosis which is bad breath. Halitosis can be avoided or treated with regular brushing. Then there is Gingivitis – inflamed gums caused by heavy plaque on your pet’s teeth. If you notice any bleeding or changes in gum color, contact your vet. Check regularly for swelling, loose teeth, difficulty eating, or even nasal discharge because these are signs of periodontal disease. A common condition among bull terriers and boxers is the proliferating disease which occurs when a dog’s gum line grows over the teeth. Many owners also use tooth wipes to remove plaque from the exposed surfaces of their dog’s teeth.

4. Treats

dog's dental health

Dogs Dogs love a treat. While these snacks are meant to be enjoyed by your pet, make sure that those will also help remove plaque and tartar buildup, clean the mouth and promote healthy gums. Himalayan Yak Chews possess special properties and ingredients that boost their effectiveness at keeping your dog’s teeth clean, with enough calcium and fatty acids like omega-3. Yak milk dog chew is the best treat for your pet. While gnawing on the Himalayan Yak milk chew treat, the hard texture scraps on the tooth’s surface, thus removing the accumulated plaque/tartar from the teeth of your pet.

5. Dental Cleaning

dog's dental health

While dog chews are effective for natural dental cleaning, your pet must be medically evaluated regularly for the presence of dental tartar and disease and be treated if necessary. A professional cleaning can assure that your dog’s teeth receive the care that they require, as your veterinary dentist can look out for any developing oral health issues too. At the least, biannual examinations are recommended if proper care is already provided at home. While becoming aware of dental concerns is an absolute must, the most detailed home oral care can also sometimes miss potentially serious dental health concerns. That is the reason why professional help is often required.

Yak Chew (Himalayan Yak Chew) – 5 Benefits you need to know

Yak Chew (Himalayan Yak Chew) Benefits – Traditionally, dogs are supposed to use their sharp teeth and strong jaws to hunt, kill, and eat their prey. Their teeth are weapons that wound and enervate prey, while the purpose of the incisors is for tearing, and the molars, used for chewing and grinding. “Churpees” छुर्पी or “durkha”

History

It is incredibly hard to find or cook meat in most of the higher altitudes of the Himalayan regions so our ancestors in Tibet & Nepal were searching for ways to fulfill their dietary needs in terms of their protein and calcium intake. With the process of trial and error, they managed to make tiny bits of chews using the milk of the Himalayan cows which turned out to be long-lasting and did not necessarily expire(very long shelf life so they could store it for a long time). This is how churpees were first made and till today are commonly consumed as snacks in the higher altitudes of the southeast asian regions. We took the same idea and made longer versions of churpees that are meant for doggos called “Yak Milk Dog Chew”.

A Light Bulb Moment:

Born and raised in Nepal, churpees(छुर्पी) were something I ate quite regularly as a form of snacking ( in tiny little pieces). As most of you already know, It is quite common to share your snacks with your doggos (unless you want your best friend to stare at you, drooling, until you finish the very last piece), so while sharing a few small pieces with them, they seemed to like it very much and the best part was that it kept them occupied for a while. This was the first instance of the “light bulb moment” in creating a healthy snack now commonly known as yak chews.

Made using the milk of our Himalayan cows (along with tiny bits of yaks milk which are getting harder to source) and no added preservatives, it is a great source of protein plus calcium. While being quite tasteless(slightly milky) and hard, it takes hours before it gets dissolved into our mouths making it a unique form of a long-lasting treat!

Later on, while doing my Masters from King’s College London, I wanted to step aside from my comfort zone and wanted to do something different, so I decided to introduce a lot of our Himalayan products (mostly family-owned) to the western world with the intension of helping the socio-economic conditions of the people who help make them.

Note: Since churpees can’t be exported to the EU from Nepal, we at Everest have partnered with the farmers of Darjeeling to make our churpees in India. Since we have a unique way of cleaning and post-processing the chews, you will notice a significant difference in the quality between ours and our competitors’ chews. There are commercial milk factories in the EU that are also trying to replicate what we have, but it is not of the same quality. Often times the ones in the EU are machine-made and lack the same durability since our chews are made at a different altitude making them a lot denser.

Obviously tasty but won’t last long with a larger dog

My Bearded Collie loved this product but it lasted no more than 1 hour which is pretty poor value for money at the price. If you have a pampered pooch and money is no object then fill your boots! My dog certainly loved it but I had hoped that it would last longer. However, I can’t really fault the product for being tasty, can I?

Natural solid great dog chew that can last!

Great item fab price cocker s loves these he’s 6 months and one lasts 1 month ( it’s in my living room so when he’s here he chews that not my shoes etc!) he’s a big puppy he loves it my frenchie can (although she’s smaller) get through them faster! But there’s no nasty chemicals or crap ingredients in these so great all round! Seriously good product at a good price

Decent

On the chart it was under the antler for durability… I’d put it right up there with it .. solid ..as far as I know .. there’s no scent .. ybit I’m not a dog ha

Kept my puppy occupied for ages

With a puppy that can destroy nylar bones within twenty minutes, I didn’t hold out much hope for these lasting that long. But so far he’s been gnawing at it for three hours and he’s hardly made a mark on it. That’s fantastic! If you need a way to occupy your puppy then I’d recommend these – they are cheap, durable and they don’t smell of much.

Pup loves them

My pup loves these- she spends hours having a good old chew on them, stops her from going at the shoes!! She also likes to toss them around and chase them all over the wooden flooring ( don’t ask!! ) nit good at 5am! Think they are a little expensive for what they are but i will continue to buy them as my pup likes them so much.

Great

Bought these for my miniature dachshund and he loves them. Keeps him occupied in times of need. He has munched through two quite quickly so I’ll probably get a larger dog chew next time, but these are still great – no horrible scent (like when I accidentally bought horse penises!) and a decent price for what you get. (Also good for when you leave them at home alone.)

Great buy

The only downside of these chews is that they don’t last long enough lol.
My dog loves them and when I microwaved the end of his chew it grew again and he refused to leave it, or share with the cats which he usually does, there’s no smell, no staining just a happy dog surrounded by crumbs

Dog loves it

Can’t add flavour as I’ve not tasted it 😂. My dog loves it but a week on and he’s only got 1/3rd of it left! So not as long lasting as advertised. Maybe it’s my dogs attention to it 😬? Would buy again

Brilliant way to keep a dog quiet for a while!

I cannot give these to my labrador cross because she chomps her way through them too quickly and they cost a lot, but for my 5 month old sheepdog puppy, they are absolutely perfect. He can gnaw on one of these over a period of days and days. Perfect for when you need to get on with something or just have a sit down for an hour. Then I swap it for a toy or treat and put it away for the next day. Excellent value and no mess.
